Bwena Medical Community Health Initiative (BMCHI) is a grassroots health organization based in West Pokot, Kenya. We exist to bridge the gap between underserved communities and essential healthcare by delivering preventive, maternal, and child health services directly to people’s homes and villages.

Our mission is simple yet transformative — to make quality healthcare accessible, trusted, and sustainable for all.

Our Focus Areas

Preventive & Community Health Outreach

We focus on prevention through mobile clinics, home visits, and community events—offering health checks, immunizations, and education on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.

Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health (MNCH)

Our trained field nurses offer antenatal and postnatal care, family planning counseling, and child immunizations to reduce preventable deaths among mothers and infants.

Reproductive Health & Family Planning

We empower families to make informed choices by providing confidential reproductive health services and counseling that respect local cultures and beliefs.

Health Education & Awareness

Through partnerships with schools, churches, and local leaders, we promote health literacy — equipping communities with knowledge to make better health decisions and reduce preventable illnesses.

How We Work

Our field-based model ensures that 80–90% of our time is spent directly within communities — not in offices. We operate mobile clinics, conduct home visits, and document each activity through verifiable data and patient feedback.

By combining modern health tools with local engagement, we make healthcare inclusive, personal, and impactful.

Our Vision for the Future

We envision a West Pokot where no one is left behind because of distance, poverty, or lack of information.

To achieve this, BMCHI is expanding its reach and strengthening local health systems by:

  • Training more community health volunteers to deliver first-line care and education.

  • Integrating digital health tools for better tracking, referrals, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Partnering with national and international health agencies to scale our impact.
